the Easy Trick I Use to Make Sure I Work out Every Day

By Lindsayleighbentley @lindsayLbentley

I would love to say that health alone is all the motivation that I need to work out every day. I would even settle for wanting to have a toned body to be enough motivation. But let's be real. Sometimes I need something superficial and fun to get me away from the dishes, or couch, or cleaning, or sleeping, or whatever I use to justify not working out that day.

So, without wasting any more time, here it is, in all of it's ridiculous glory:

Pick a TV show to watch ONLY when working out. Not any show. A really good show that draws you in and keeps your attention and makes you want to keep watching. Watch it through Netflix or HuluPlus or something so that you can pause it and resume the next day.

Pick a show that has hour long episodes so that it doesn't end before you're done working out. ( The workouts I do take around 40 minutes.) Because if the show ends 22 minutes into your workout, you will be tempted to stop along with it.

I watch the show on my TV, have the workout on my computer, and use the timer on my phone for the 7 minute intervals in Kayla's workout guide.

It sounds so ridiculous but sometimes the motivation that I need to work out is found in wanting to know what happens next in my silly show.

I know, dumb. But it just plain works. It's got me working out for over 6 weeks consistently 6 days a week. Busy times, and slow times. Sick kids, traveling husband, home renovation stuff, total exhaustion, etc.

See, here I am working out at 10pm in my bedroom. I want to be having a glass of wine and sitting in my bed. But you know what I want more? To find out why in the world Huck is saying 752 over and over and over. (It's a dumb show, I know, but it works.)
