The Easy Tip Series - One tip to help authors and artists become better social media users and sell more!

In previous posts, I blogged about TweetDeck and social media listening.

Today, let's talk about how to use Twitter to find interview / book review opportunities to boost your self-promotional efforts.

With TweetDeck, which leverages Twitter Search, you can easily surface Tweets in which users mention their interest for featuring others. All you have to do is click the included links and follow instructions or hit "reply" to start the conversation.

The trick is to play around with specific keywords and keep an eye on results. For example:

  • We / I interview poets / authors / photographers
  • Looking for poets / authors / photographers to interview
  • Poets / Authors / Photographers wanted
  • Blogger looking for poet / author / photographer
  • poetry / photography / artist / author interviews
  • poetry / photography blog
  • podcast guests
  • poetry / photography book recommendations
  • Hashtags: #bookreview #bookbloggers

When a combination of keywords does not seem to yield relevant results, try something else. I also recommend using search operators for more tailored results.

Be patient! Practice and experience will bring you awesome results. How do I know? I have secured about 80% of all the interviews in my career via Twitter!

Now, go and have fun! Let me know what you discovered! 🙂
