I decided over Christmas that I was going to start blogging more spontaneously when things inspire me and this is one of those blog posts.
As most of you will expect, being a blogger is a pretty kick ass way to make a living but just like every job it has it's downsides and I just wanted to talk about a few things that I find to be the downsides of being a blogger.
Public Pressure
Being in the public eye can be daunting even for me who is nowhere near famous. Being a beauty blogger is a bit like being a car salesman. You never want to leave the house looking anything but your best, like a car salesman would hate to leave the house driving a Del boy 3 wheeler van. I always feel like people who know I'm a beauty and fashion blogger are judging my appearance. It's highly possible that actually, no-one gives a stuff about me or the way I look but either way, I do still feel pressure with looking 'acceptable' in public.
Hackers
If you have a popular blog or even semi popular like mine, then you're at a bigger risk of being hacked by nasty ass people who spend their time trying to take down websites. I've had all of my blog posts deleted before and over the Christmas break, someone hacked my emails and deleted all of my contacts and folders. Greeeeeat.
Negativity From Visitors
Sometimes, a few people can be particularly nasty when they visit your blog and actually one of the most 'hating' platforms I've found is actually Twitter. A minority of people make comments about your appearance or make fun at bad circumstances which can sometimes be a bitter pill to swallow.
Negativity From Other Bloggers
I bleeding love the blogging community. Almost everyone is so supportive and really encourages each other. Howeeeeever, sometimes the blogging community can be a bit passive aggressive about other bloggers. The other day, I saw the lovely Louise from Sprinkle Of Glitter was on Celebrity Mastermind. I went onto Twitter to congratulate her and there before my very eyes was a whole bunch of bloggers making catty remarks about how she doesn't deserve to be there because she's not famous. It's just rude and reeks of jealousy. Unfortunately, it's not the first time I've seen negativity like this from other bloggers which is a shame.
Aside from these points, I freaking love my job and genuinely look forward to getting my laptop out and working on a daily basis which I never ever thought I would say about any job.
What do you find to be the downsides of your job?
