The Concert for Love & Acceptance returns in 2021 with a fantastic lineup of performers and special appearances scheduled for June 30, 2021, at 8 PM.
The show will be streaming live on CMT's social channels (Facebook and YouTube) and will close Pride Month with a fantastic showing of celebration, support, and love for the LGBTQ+ community.
Co-hosted once again by Ty Herndon and CMT's Cody Alan, the concert will feature headlining acts including Brothers Osborne and Terri Clark, while also including must-see artists like Brooke Eden, Tenille Townes, Rissi Palmer, and many more.
The Concert for Love & Acceptance has always put a smile on our faces. The willingness of the artists and guests involved every year is heartening. The commitment to philanthropy by Herndon and others should be celebrated. And seeing the country music community offering public support for the LGBTQ+ community is a statement that should be celebrated as well.
It is no secret that country music (from the boardrooms to the fans) can and needs to do a better job of accepting, supporting and welcoming artists (and fans) in the LGBTQ+ community. We know that homophobia, hate, and ignorance is present (as it is in too many places) and that education, more support, and more inclusion are needed to change that. We acknowledge that many people are trying to help and that actions like those taken by the CMA are a good start. However, we also stand with the community in asking them, and everyone else to do more. And we agree with the thoughts and feelings in this Open Letter to the CMA posted by countryqueer.com .
We love country music and are proud to be part of the country music community, as we are with all of the music communities we've been fortunate enough to be welcomed into. And because we love it, we want more from it. We want better from it. We want to see everyone who wants to be welcomed, feel welcome. Gay, straight, bi, trans, questioning, Ace, if you love country music or any music, we want you to be able to be yourself and be open and part of the community that loves that music right along with you!
As part of the Concert for Love & Acceptance's celebration, the second annual Foundation For Love & Acceptance R.A.L.Y. (Rescue A Life, Y'all) Award will be presented to Kathy Mattea by Ty Herndon.
Herndon had this to say about Mattea "Kathy Mattea was standing up for LGBTQ people and raising awareness about the HIV and AIDS epidemic long before it was cool - especially in the country music community. It's an honor to give her the long-overdue recognition she deserves for being a pioneering ally and friend."
