The Book of Life

By Drharrietd @drharrietd

Book-of-life-193x300If you'd asked me, a few years ago, whether I wanted to read a book about witches and vampires, you would have got the most definitive no. But when I read that Deborah Harkness's A Discovery of Witches was about a research student scrabbling around the most un-read books in the Bodleain Library in Oxford, something I used to do myself, I was intigued and decided to give it a go. And surprise surprise I was completely entralled by this rather classy hokum. So, when I saw that volume three of what's known as the All Souls trilogy was coming out, I nabbed it for a review on Shiny New Books, and here's the link if you'd like to hear what I said about it.

I'm rather sorry this is the end -- it's not great literature, but it is informed by a good deal of historical knowledge, and has a very attractive vampire into the bargain -- great for those long winter evenings.
