The Big Crash

By Karl @cartoonistdiary
Some things, so they say, you will look back on one day and laugh at. Today wasn't one of them.
I've had a slow lead in my studio ceiling for a few weeks and because of the continual rain and high winds that have been battering us with the relentlessness of a triple-dip recession, I've been unable to get out onto the roof to fix it.
The insurance company were as helpful as ever: as soon as I called them they leaped into immediate action and within a few nano seconds had found a get out clause and I was gleefully ( and I mean they sounded genuinely happy) told to sod off.
THAT'S AXA INSURANCE, FOLKS, AXA INSURANCE. REMEMBER THAT NAME AND USE THEM AT YOUR PERIL
Any way, I guess I can be grateful for small mercies. I'd just completed a whole page of artwork and was about to head down stairs for some lunch: I don't know what made me do it but something in my head said to move the artwork, so I did.
Good job too!
Ten minutes later and I was downstairs, tucking into my sandwiches, when I heard an almighty crash, followed by two more. I rushed upstairs and came into this scene...
The Big Crash
The Big Crash
The Big Crash
The Big Crash
The Big Crash
Damage to date: One chair, a CD radio, water color palettes, a light box, paint brushes and a pile of artwork; all of which will have to be done again.
And what do AXA INSURANCE care? They care as much as they are willing to pay out...NOTHING!
