The Beehive Tearooms, Rochford, Essex

By Michelle Jr @abeeandtoe

I have passed The Beehive Tearooms approximately a million times, while travelling backwards and forwards to visit my Mum. It is one of those places that I always looked at and said I must go in there and see what it’s like… so while I was last in the UK, before I headed to Yo-Yo to get my hair done, Boon, Mum and I decided to pop in and have a spot of brunch.

The Beehive Tearooms, has been open for twenty years. Quaint is definitely the word I would use to describe it.  It is a lot bigger on the inside than it looks, with three different seating areas (it seats up to 70).

In the windows and on the shelves at the front of the tearooms are a variety of items for sale; including records, teapots and pictures.

The menu is made up of typical cafe style food…  I opted for an omelette and chips, Boon went for sausage and chips and Mum chose jacket potato with beans. Our food arrived quickly and was OK.  Nothing amazing, but perfectly edible and at very good prices.

I suspect my cappuccino came from a sachet (which was disappointing) and we were in and out in around 30 minutes.

I wouldn’t say there was anything special about the tearooms, but if you’re looking for a quick lunch, you could definitely do worse.

You can find The Beehive Tearooms at 12 South Street, Rochford, SS4 1BQ
