When it comes to doing our make-up base, we all aim for a flawless finish and one make-up tool that ensures this is the Beauty Blender. If you don't know what it is or you have seen the famous pink egg-shaped sponge and wondered what it was then let me tell you what makes this a must have make-up tool for everybody. If you constantly get brush marks on your face when applying your make up then its time for a change!
The Beauty Blender is an egg shaped, edgeless sponge that ensures flawless application of any foundation, concealer, contour product or powder to the face. The exclusive material ensures incredible application with no streaking what so ever, less product wastage and gives an airbrushed finish every time. The egg shape makes getting into every area of the face effortless. The material has a special minimum water retention so your product will not get absorbed into it, just sit on the sponges surface which gives the perfect finish on your skin.
Use in just three easy steps: Wet, Squeeze, Bounce!

There are a few different types of beauty blender that carry out different jobs; Classic Pink (for applying all make-up & the most popular) Pure White (for applying skincare) Pro Black (for self tanning & male grooming) Micro-Mini Green (for applying concealer, highlighter, spot work).
Theredsponge is a limited edition 'red carpet version' that is exactly the same as the original, just red!

The green micro-mini's (that look a little like ear plugs) are probably the most cutest make-up tool you shall ever see. They come as a pair and are perfect for concealing around the eyes and for on the spot work as they really do get into every crevice on the face.

When these sponges are wet they all double in size. My pink one was actually wet when I took these shots hence the size difference, so you can see how they grow!

Using the classic Beauty Blender to blend out foundation, concealer & contour ...

Beauty Blender, Concealing

Concealer - Dampen your BB sponge (either under the tap or mist with a facial spray) then once you have applied your concealer, bounce the BB over the product using the pointed end, making sure you get into all areas of the eye. (Be generous with your concealer so it acts as a highlight to brighten as well as be a concealer).

Use concealer to highlight all areas of the face and again bounce the BB to blend.

Cleaning Your Beauty Blender! I clean my beauty blender each time that I use it so that it is fresh for the next application. I really recommend the Solid Blender Cleanser which is not an unnecessary gimmick but an incredible cleanser that cleans not only your sponges but all your make-up brushes too. It's free from sulphates & parabens and strips away all the make up really quickly. It comes as a liquid version too but I like the the solid bar as it's perfect for traveling.
• Hold your beauty blender and solid soap under running water and swirl your sponge into the soap bar covering all areas that need a good clean, working into a lather. • Squeeze gently to break up the make-up and avoid twisting or pinching so not to tear it. • Rinse in clean cold water then squeeze all the excess water out in a towel. • Set it aside (on top of its plastic container is good) let it air dry or use it again. Simple!

*NEW* Blotterazzi ...If you suffer from shine or an oily-zone like I do then you need this in your life. Unlike regular blotting papers that blot and add more powder onto the skin then make you look cakey, the Blotterazzijust takes away shine. This sponge is used dry but the magic material stays 'thirsty' when dry so it absorbs any excess oil on your skin without disturbing your make-up. It contains two flat egg shaped blotting cushions all in a gorgeous mirrored compact case that is vented with a clear hygienic separator to keep your sponges fresh. I love this product as it is so easy to keep in your hand bag for make-up checks but does the job in hand really well.

My overall advice is that if you don't own a beauty blender .... then get one! It is safe to say that I am totally obsessed with this magic sponge and once you try this method of blending, you too shall wonder how you ever did your make up without one. I guarantee it shall make a huge difference to your make up and make you feel like a make-up artist has worked their magic on your face - it's that easy! Yes you may think it's a pricey make-up sponge compared to other cheaper 'imposter' sponges but this one is very unique and much different to all those others. The Real Techniques miracle complexion sponge is a less expensive good alternative but I personally think the beauty blender works better.
