This week’s The Beauty Behind The Blog, Blogger Q & A is with Sammy, the lovely blogger behind bare beauty.

the beauty behind the blog

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog!
My name is Sammy – a 30-something single white female from Melbourne Australia

Having been in the beauty industry wearing many different hats since I was 16 .. Wow that makes me feel old! .. I have decided to share my knowledge, insights, good times and bad times in the form of a beauty blog and hopefully soon online shopping experience.

Working in a butcher shop to pay my way through beauty school, losing acrylic nails in in the sausage mince and discovering that teal blue eyeshadow looks quite good on a pig in the freezer room was just the beginning for me. Soon graduating and realising that I didn’t want to sit and inhale acrylic liquid fumes day and night I charged my way into the wonderful world of promotions and department store beauty consulting.

6-inch heels on Myer tiles wore thin after 6 years and I followed the yellow brick road to sit on my behind in front of a computer. This then lead me down my next path into product development and then finally PR and Marketing where I now speak highly of 4 fabulous brands.

Together I share my life with my 14 year old German Shepherd x Staffy – my true best friend and quite frankly the only man that will ever understand me!

In 2015 I inspire to hit the ground running with my blogging journey, I want to captivate, enlighten and educate the women of Australia and beyond in a way that no other beauty blogger has yet been able to do. I want my readers to be my “friends” and have someone reputable to turn to with all of their beauty blunders. There’s a big wide world of marketing out there .. let’s have some fun playing with products and finding the best ones that suit our needs.

Do we need a $70 eye bright pen or can we get just as fabulous results with a $20 one? Do I need eye cream? What for? What does it do? Is it worth it? And what the hell are Phenoxyethanol and Tocopheryl Acetate and why is it in my moisturiser that I love so much?

The story behind your blog’s name.
bare beauty was an easy name for me to adopt .. beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it’s skin deep and on the inside as well as the outside. I believe in looking after your skin every single day .. being bare and moisturised before a good night’s sleep is the most important beauty ritual anyone can do. Simple.

Your biggest beauty pet peeve.
Ah this one is easy! Flaky uneven orange fake tan! There is no excuse ladies! There are so many amazing products out there now that are green based so orange is not an option!! And for the love of god EXFOLIATE FIRST!!!!

3 products you’re currently loving and why.
Natio Ageless Organic Rosehip Oil – the ONLY nighttime product anyone will ever need. I can not recommend a Rosehip Oil highly enough … Rich in essential fatty acids which are so vital for the health of our skin. Our bodies can not produce these oils so Rosehip Oil is certainly the easy answer to young, healthy looking skin. RRP $19.95 from Myer

boe professional Pro Finish Base Primer – a brand new kid on the block that I actually helped to develop. It really is important to prime your skin before applying foundation .. much like applying a primer before you paint a wall. RRP $9.95 from Big W.

Premium Spa Lemon Butter Salt Scrub – No words can describe this product .. you really have to try it! It’s simply bliss and leaves your skin so soft and moisturised it’s almost a miracle in a jar. RRP $14.99 from Priceline.

Your favorite fragrance.
Definitely Chanel No. 5. Classic. Feminine. Timeless.
