The Babies Ready to Release Their Sophomore Album [stream]

Though Brooklyn’s The Babies (@cassieramone) (@kevinmorby) may have begun as a side project for Woods’ Kevin Morby and Vivian Girls’ Cassie Ramone, the collaboration has certainly grown into a powerhouse of an alliance. Given the band’s clever, heavy-hitting guitar work, raw vocals and penchant for strong melodies, this development isn’t all that surprising. Not to mention, their live show, where I first experienced their music, definitely matches the organic intensity and authentic voice of the recorded material.

Prepping for the release of their sophomore LP, Our House On The Hill, the group, also consisting of Justin Sullivan and Brian Schleyer, recently announced an extensive US fall tour and released a new track “Get Lost,” which you can stream above. While I absolutely enjoyed the band’s self-titled debut, this track, along with their other new single, “Moonlight Mile,” undoubtedly represent a step forward in production and songwriting.
