Christians, especially fundamentalist right-wing christians, love to claim they are victims -- and are discriminated against by the government (which makes their members obey the same laws that all other Americans must obey). That is simply not true. The fact is that the United States government is made up overwhelmingly of christians, and always has been.
Only two of our 45 presidents had no formal religious affiliation (Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln). The other 43 all were members of a christian sect (as the chart above shows). The same is true of Congress and the Supreme Court. All three branches are, and have always been, populated predominately by christians.
