Last year’s 101 Books Christmas Gift Guide was a moderate success so let’s give it another go.
I try to get a little creative with these. Everybody knows about gift cards, bookmarks, and such, but what are some of the more unusual items you maybe haven’t thought about for the book lover in your life?
How about…
Temporary literary tattoos.
Have you considered taking the tattoo plunge but you’re not quite sure if you’re ready for that long-term commitment? Try out a few temporary tattoos! Litographs sent me the above samples last week. From top to bottom: that’s a quote from Pride and Prejudice, then Peter Pan, then Hamlet.
Four Roses Bourbon
The best bourbon on the market right now, in my opinion. Goes great with a good novel. If you’re a bourbon drinker, give it a try.
The Alan Ginsberg Brooch
Via The Literary Gift Company
This makes the second consecutive year I’ve featured the Alan Ginsberg brooch because I just can’t help but feature the Alan Ginsberg brooch. Look at that thing. It pairs well with a really tight pair of skinny jeans and an unnecessary scarf.
The Writers Block Notebook
Oh, so clever. While you’re working through your writer’s block, why not write in a notebook that looks like an actual block of wood? Via The Literary Gift Company.
Library Card Socks
Only true library nerds would go for these guys. But if you really like socks, and you really miss the old days of library cards, then maybe you’ll dig these. As The Literary Gift Company says, maybe “your socks are overdue for a makeover.” They’ll be here all week.
A “So It Goes” Pendant
I’m not sure Kurt Vonnegut had a pendant in mind when he coined the famous phrase “so it goes” from Slaughterhouse Five. Via The Literary Gift Company.
The Shakespearean Insults Wallet
This might work better as a simple iPhone app. But in case you like wallets that talk, and more specifically hurl insults, then The Literary Gift Company has you covered. Watch it in action here.
A Novelist’s Warning T-Shirt
“Careful or you’ll end up in my next novel.” Wouldn’t you hate to be friends with Stephen King?
You can see hundreds of more cool literary gifts over at The Literary Gift Company, as well as Litographs.
Enjoy shopping and Merry Christmas! Hope you all find something for the book lovers in your life (or yourself!).
