The 10 Minute Poem About Love

By Namalsiddiqui @namalsiddiqui
Been a while guys! Yep trying hard here to put pen on paper with work (which is another blog and you should check it out: http://blog.namshi.com/) :D, exams, friends, family and a pending car wash! So I'm taking a humanities class this semester, and loving it! For a couple of hours I'm transported to the world of literary and art works of the Renaissance and Baroque period. Our professor asks us to then illustrate our lessons in the form of art and poetry. So here's my amateur version of Baroque art and a poem I wrote today in class in 10 minutes. We had to choose between love, hatred and loneliness. After useless pondering over loneliness I switched to love and wrote this. The drawing has a different interpretation but I thought it'd be nice to put them together!
The 10 Minute Poem about Love
That night,
We lay down on cold grounds,
And lay our heart and soul bare,
The warmth of which was comforting.
We gazed back at the glittering black sky,
We were close under the twilight.
We talked as the night transformed into morning.
We talked about things, simple things
And complicated things.
We talked about growing up and growing old,
About hopes and expectations,
About life and belonging,
About purpose and identity,
About theories and ideologies,
About happiness and contentment,
About pain and solitude,
And we talked about nothing,
A moment there was unstoppable conversation.
Another, there was debatable discussion.
And some moments we remained in silence,
In utter beautiful silence, between the two of us.
I was delighted at the different ways we could communicate,
There was comfort and disagreement.
I think to myself now. I think that was love.
Until dawn broke on us.
