Things have been absolutely crazy around here lately, and will be crazy for the rest of September unfortunately. Reading Scoop‘s recap of TerrifiCon made me realize that I had not posted about the convention myself. I missed last year, but I did go this year, and it was fantastic! The big change is that on May 30th, Mohegan Sun opened their new Earth Expo & Convention Center, and TerrifiCon was moved from the Uncas Ballroom to the new space.

This meant we no longer had to queue around the slot machines to get in, and once inside, there was much more room to move around.

I had mentioned in my recap of the 2016 convention how it seemed very crowded, making it hard to go from table to table. I am glad that problem has been addressed.
With all the extra room, TerrifiCon was able to add computer gaming, and a room with a Lionel train layout by the Mohegan Pequot Model Railroad Club.

My other complaint in 2016 was that it is a very expensive convention to attend. Ticket prices are on the high side, and the room rates are as well. This is still true, and is not likely to change, so I may have to limit my attendance to every other year. That is a shame, because Mohegan Sun is home to one of my favorite places on Earth: Leffingwells Bar, now known as Vista Lounge at Wombi Rock.

I love being able to spend the day attending a convention, then being able to get a good Martini afterward!
