Ephemera Collecting

Posted on the 15 January 2023 by Hmcurator

Having spent much of my childhood in libraries and museums, it was only natural that I looked to these institutions for inspiration when I started seriously working on the Harvey Mercheum permanent collection. I took a class in conservation techniques, then started research into how to run a museum, then ended with museum exhibit best practices and products.

Last year, I applied my experience in attending and running conventions to my corner booth at TerrifiCon 2022. And now I am looking into organizations such as The Journal of Antiques and Collectibles and The Ephemera Society of America to see if there are other ways I can further develop and promote the concept of Harveyana. While looking at the Ephemera Society's website, I found an interesting article about collecting ephemera. You can read it here:

About Jonathan Sternfeld

Ephemera Collecting

Jonathan has been collecting Harvey's Richie Rich since the summer of 1978. While he mostly focused on the comic books, he later discovered the wealth of merchandise that was also available. The lack of any sort of "checklist" as to what was made is what inspired him to create this website. He hopes fellow collectors find it entertaining and useful!
