Via Daily Mail: A Washington state homeowner says he was able to thwart a robbery at his home – because his 15-year-old son scared the burglars off with a rifle.
The man, John Thomas, says that his house in South Prairie was broken into last Thursday. However he set up CCTV cameras after realizing that some valuables had been left behind, and fearing the thieves might be back.
On Monday they did come back, however Thomas was reading for them.
Thomas’ 15-year-old son was home sick from school that day, and Thomas was sure to show him how to use his rifle just in case something were to happen. When the boy heard a window break, he didn’t panic, and went to retrieve the weapon.
‘He didn’t show himself,’ Thomas told Q Fox 13. ‘If they don’t know who you are, they’re just scared because there is a person inside. So he shouted, he alarmed them, and they vacated.‘
Thomas was also able to get images of the two men from his surveillance cameras.

‘People who commit burglaries usually do it for a living,’ says Detective Ed Troyer. ‘So hopefully with these photos, we can get them identified. We can find them and put an end to the burglaries happening in that area.’
The men were arrested Thursday night.
