Tech Pundit Robert Scoble Thinks Google Glass is “Doomed”

“I think Google Glass is doomed.”Scoble shared his opinion via a blog post on TNW.

Google Glass is believed to be a revolutionary device that will shape the future of consumer technology in an entirely new way, according to popular opinion. However, Robert Scoble seems to think otherwise. And he backs his opinion with some pretty strong points as well. He explained the reasons behind his statement in a lengthy article, published on the first day of 2014.

Scoble thinks Google Glass will struggle to survive in the consumer market in 2014 due to its’ expensive price, lack of app support, extremely low battery life, photo workflow issues and many more. And he’s correct on all of them.

“These are on our faces and are the most controversial product of my lifetime. Everyone will compare sales of Google Glass to Apple’s iWatch. That is going to bring a raft of “Google Glass isn’t popular” kinds of articles. Translation: Glass is doomed.”

I haven’t had a chance to try on Google Glass, so I can’t support or deny Scoble’s opinion. Even though he shows some valid points, these kinds of rants and criticism are common signs of an upcoming revolution. Besides, he occasionally gets his opinions wrong as well. People hate change, but once they get used to it, they can’t live without it. My opinion – Let’s wait and see. Google made some pretty amazing products over the years and the company is becoming more innovative every day. I admit, Google Glass needs some work, but it’s nothing Google can’t handle.
