Teaser Tuesdays: Assassin’s Apprentice

I’ve been in the most awful reading slump lately. I’ve picked up, started, and stopped so many books. It’s not the fault of the books, it’s just I am distracted by so many other things going on. Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb though on the slow side is managing to hold my attention.

This book came is the first book in the Farseer trilogy and is a very traditional Fantasy novel (not always a bad thing).

Here’s a teaser from the book. It’s the assassin trying to convince his pupil to take lessons from him in the technique of assassinery (or whatever such a subject is called LOL).

Learning is never wrong. Even learning how to kill isn’t wrong. Or right. It’s just a thing to learn, a thing I can teach you. That’s all.

Here’s another piece of advice that I thought was quite good for an up and coming assassin.

People are intimidated by a man who acts with no apparent regard for consequences. Behave as if you cannot be touched and no one will dare to touch you.

~ Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb

Have you read this book? It’s not newly published, but it came to my attention only when I saw it highly recommended by George R.R.Martin.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

teasertuesdays31

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
