Did I Read My Summer TBR?

Posted on the 22 September 2021 by Cheekymeeky

I realize that I participate a lot in Top ten posts, especially book lists of my TBR books, but I rarely go back and check to see if I read the books I promised myself to read. When I saw Jessticulates doing a lookback post to see her reading status, I thought I should do one too and see where I stand versus my reading goals.

My TBR list for summer 2021 looked like this.

I chose books that were very interesting to me and not too challenging - a good mix of easy and difficult reads, or so I thought.

Unfortunately, my reading took a very different path. I shifted The Mirror and the Light by Hilary Mantel to my Fall TBR because my headspace wanted something lighter. I didn't get to Embroideries, but I did pick up and enjoy Marjane Satrapi's first book - Persepolis (review coming soon).

I read and reviewed Agatha Raisin and the Haunted House by M.C.Beaton (not bad, but I am not sure this series is for me). Another book I finished is The Twentieth Wife by Indu Sundaresan (yet to review it, but this was a good, solid book).

The rest of the books on my list - sigh! I got side-tracked by Shuggie Bain, which was so wonderful, yet so sad that it derailed the rest of my planned reading. I drifted to Alexander McCall Smith, and then a couple of easier books from my list. My end result being 3/10 planned books. Eep! I hope I do better with my Fall reading list.

How did your reading go this summer?
