I've reviewed three flavours in the Tayto Handcooked crisp range (see below for links to the other reviews) so far, and today I have the fourth and final flavour; Causeway Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper. These crisps are produced in Northern Ireland, in a factory set in the Tayto Castle grounds. It's a beautiful setting that certainly produces some fantastic potato crisps. The ones I've tried so far from this range have all been of an excellent high quality with delicious flavours. As a fan of black pepper flavoured crisps I couldn't wait to give these a try.
The crisps are all a lovely golden colouring and have that distinctive "handcooked" appearance. They are liberally covered in seasoning, with plenty of visible black pepper granules on each crisp. The overall texture of the crisps is excellent too, very crunchy and quite thick, without any oiliness.
I loved the flavor in these! It's a really intense black pepper that's full of flavor and a little residual heat too. There is also quite a lot of salt seasoning, from the sea salt, to give these a delicious salt and pepper balance. I love the fact that Tayto don't hold back on their seasonings, the flavours never disappoint and always live up to their descriptions. A fantastic crisp for any fans of black pepper!
