After officially opening its doors a bit over 2 years ago, Tavolo has continued to serve up gorgeous Italian food at its modern and chic restaurant. Tavolo is a family friendly restaurant that is a mixture of both formal and casual dining. Tavolo aims to bring people together with good food and company whether it is a small group or long table dinner.

Entree & Sharing

To start off the night we nibbled on Carpaccio & Salsa Tonnata - beef rump carpaccio with rocket, shaved parmesan, tonnata sauce (tuna mayo) olive oil & Turkish bread. This was the first time I had carpaccio, and I really loved it! The beef was melting in the mouth and the bread was nice and toasty. All the different flavours and textures of each element together in one bite came together beautifully.

The Burrata Cheese & Prosciutto, which was traditional Italian milky soft cheese, with prosciutto parma, vino cotto dressing with mixed leaves & fresh fig also had flavours that combined really well with the fig adding a nice touch to the dish.

The Arancini Balls had a good crunch and had quite light fillings of saffron & pumpkin, spinach pesto and sundried tomato with napolitana sauce & grated parmesan, which meant we had room for more Italian goodness.

Wood-Fired Pizzas

The signature wood-fired pizzas were definitely a crowd pleaser. It was hard to pick a favourite, but truffle and pizza? Yes please! The Tartufata with mozzarella, mushrooms, truffle cream, parmigiano cheese & parsley is a must-try. I usually always go for meat pizzas, but this pizza was perfect as it is. I also love a prosciutto pizza, and the Prosciutto Parma did not disappoint. You can definitely taste the love that goes into the pizzas here.

Freshly Made In-House Pasta

Tavolo also serves up freshly made in-house pastas including fettuccine, gnocchi and spaghetti. The gnocchi is not made the usual way by rolling the pasta into a log and cutting it into pieces. Instead it is piped from a piping bag so it comes out as nice and fluffy little pillows.

Now if you love cheese, you are going to want to get your hands on the Five Cheese Gnocchi, which is baked potato gnocchi with edam, parmesan, mozzarella, brie & organic blue cheese - it will be your cheese heaven.

The Fettuccine beef Ragu' Alla Bolognese was also rich and flavourful.

There is always room for dessert, and tiramisu is one of my Italian favourties.

Dessert

This tiramisu with mascarpone cream, espresso, Kahlua, disaronno & Frangelico liqueur, sponge finger cookies, amaretti crumb and cocoa was an absolute delight and not too heavy, which I love. It makes the perfect dessert to finish off.

It can sometimes be challenging to find a restaurant for date night with your partner or friends and family. Tavolo is a great option for you to also see a movie afterwards, with its convenient location in Belmont's Reading Cinema Complex.
