Tanlines deserves to be on every summer soundtrack in 2015. This week at Rough Trade, their sold out crowd was enchanted into a heavy dancing frenzy. They played with a new band for the first time — two additional members to the original duo to thicken their sound, which was SPOT ON if not more refined than some of their recordings. They were incredibly commanding live, exuding a natural stage presence and crafty melodic spells. The band oscillates between dance-pop tribal tracks to more nostalgic, melancholic songs. There’s something for everyone here, whether you prefer to cut a rug or mellow out and dwell in hazey lyrics.
