It had been a full year since we last hung out with Jess Moskaluke at Boots & Hearts 2015, but on Sunday night in Toronto at the CNE we caught up with the Kiss Me Quiet singer for a quick pre-show chat... and then watched her leave it all out on the stage during her 15 song, hour long set.
With the Canadian Country Music Awards just around the corner in London, ON we had to ask about the possibility of winning Female Artist of the Year for a third consecutive year. Jess told us that it would great if it happens, but it's not something you can plan for. She added that the recognition and the accomplishments hit her at random times, giving her a chance to take it all in. But maybe more than anything else it seems that she's most looking forward to see her friends in the Canadian country music industry as everyone gathers for Canadian Country Music Week.
We also asked Jess about the video for Elevator and we learned that it was a lot of fun - but really hot all day. AND that CMT's Paul McGuire singing of Take Me Home wasn't entirely scripted going into shoot day... which makes it way funnier to me.
On stage we got to hear Jess sing all of our favourites, leaving nobody wanting anything more than she gave, even with a torn up ankle and brace keeping her on the go! From Night We Won't Forget to start the show, through covers of Heart, Maren Morris, and Elle King, a Shania medley, and closing with her 2014 breakout hit, Cheap Wine & Cigarettes - Jess Moskaluke had the Toronto crowd into the gig. There was singing and dancing and a whole lot of love coming from The Ex crowd to the Saskatchewan star, and it was pretty cool to see.
It had been a year since we got to say hi to Jess, and a lot happened. Here's hoping another 12 months doesn't go by before we get to do it again!
