Does Christmas need to be so busy?

Sigh. I wish Christmas was easier than this.
I'm actually ahead of the game as far as gifts go, but I still have a few last minute things to pick up, especially for my little girl's 2nd birthday party I'm having on Saturday. I'm going to try to get it all done before Wednesday, after which I expect all of the Dooms Day crazies and super-late Christmas shoppers will be out and about full force.
I just want to stop it all, the Christmas craziness. I want to savor the moment, to live in the dream of sugarplums and snowflakes. I want to sip hot chocolate and snack on sugar cookies. I want to take a slow walk around the neighborhood and look at all of the neighbor's lights, wishing that everyone is having a happy and healthy holiday.
I guess that's what it's like being a kid though, isn't it? We moms and dads seem to get caught up in the fury of it all, trying to make it perfect for the kids and in return have some happy moments.
Let's take back Christmas. Let's live as though each moment is precious with our families, for there are moments like these that we'll never get back, never see again.
I'm going to make it a point this week to take things slow, enjoy every moment with my kids and my husband, and make memories that last a lifetime.
Take back Christmas. Don't give in to the craziness.
Have a happy and healthy holiday. Merry Christmas!
