Neil Diamond, Katie McNeil

The happy couple

You talk about your May-December weddings.  This one is May-December 3 decades later! I shouldn't mock cause I'm a softy when it comes to this man.  Recently, smooth crooner Neil Diamond wed his manager, Katie McNeil.  More than 29 years her senior, Diamond said "I do" for the third time last Sunday.
I will always have fond memories of Diamond as a special Frenchman sang "Sweet Caroline" to me back when I spent a summer in Paris working as an au pair.

SWEET, NEIL DIAMOND, GOOD TIMES NEVER SEEMED SO GOOD...

1966-1967

It's hard to believe that this vibrant singer is in his 70's.  His recognizable voice has wooed women all around the world.  One of my favourites is "September Morn".  It's not as well known as some of his other hits such as "Cracklin' Rose", "Song Sung Blue" and so many more.  To me he's like Barry Manilow without the glam, feathers or day-glo!
Diamond also made hits for other artists:
-"I'm A Believer" sung by The Monkee
-"The Boat That I Row" sung by Lulu
-"Red Red Wine" sung by UB40
-"Kentucky Woman" sung by Deep Purple
-"You Don't Bring Me Flowers" duet with Barbra Streisand
Neil Diamond is one those people who transcends time and trends.  I wouldn't go so far as to say that that teens are lining up to get his concert tickets or enthusiastically passing around bootleg copies of his CD's.  But he has a sort of atmospheric way of getting into your head like Barry White does.  Yes, weird comparision some might say!
Mazel tov, Neil and Katie.  Let's hope that this happy event will continue to inspire Diamond to produce more soulful music.
