Sweet Dreams: Inspiring Nurseries

By Irisinteriors @IrisHoulihan

A nursery represents an exciting life event, which makes it all the more important to create a unique space that leaves you inspired. It’s the prime example of a time when beauty and function must coexist. Here are some examples of stunning nurseries that offer comfort and safety, along with playfulness and imagination:

Elegant girl nursery

This sunny white nursery is serene, yet glam. Color is used in the form of bunting, a blanket, and cheerful books displayed on the wall. The chandelier and netting are princess-approved.

I adore this nursery designed for a baby boy. The colors are so unexpected, but the dark blue is cozy and also crisp thanks to the white that frames the painted ceiling. Wood and rustic accessories play into the understated nautical theme. The inside of the closet is painted with a complementary, vibrant green that acts as a bright accent when the door is left open.

A cream, white, and soft pink color scheme. The plush bedding, regal netting, and chandelier are brought down to Earth with thrift store finds, such as the distressed bookshelf. The child-sized table is perfect for teddy bear tea parties.

While designed for a boy, I think that this nursery could definitely work for a girl as well. The unique, carved wood giraffe and quirky photo gallery ensure that it’s one-of-a-kind.

Eclectic nursery

This unisex nursery features a funky accent wall and touches of gold, blue, white and pink. The designer calls it, “fun luxe.” I’d have to say I agree.

This is another nursery designed for a boy, that could just easily work for a girl. The classic dresser and chair are offset by a more modern black and white rug, pale blue walls, and a funky gallery wall. The look is sophisticated and it illustrates the trend of using furniture that isn’t specifically designed for a baby’s room in colors that defy gender.

The rug, fuzzy sheep, bird mobile, and butterflies create serious texture. The pops of pink and butterflies offset the simple crib.

An aqua nursery with red, green, and pink accents looks comfortable and cheerful. Plus, it’s unisex!
