For us expats in London staying in town during the week-end and not traveling abroad, it is the ideal time for relaxation, sports in the park, cooling off in the museums or just enjoy casual drinks with friends on a terrace. For the Middle Eastern visitors, it is the best time of the year to take over the city.
So 2 days ago, which was a regular sunny sunday in London, Mr. K and I were cycling in the park and then around South Kensington, Sloan Square, King’s road when we found ourselves on sloan street around 18:00PM. Karl suddenly urges me to stop as he noticed a crowd of people with cameras apparently “waiting for something or someone to arrive”. Curious as we are, we joined the crowd and waited… Until we could hear and see the super cars arrive one after the other: 3 Lamborghinis, an Audi R8, a tuned matified blue Rolls Royce, a nissan GTR, yellow Porsche and more…
In Beirut for example, it is common to see a reunion of super cars in the city center or on the coast near the sea. People like to show off their cars and get the crowd to take pictures. I had no idea that I would get to witness this Middle Eastern “tradition” in the middle of London on a chilled Sunday afternoon And just when you think that people can’t show off any more than that, some people on the street started selling/marketing crazy car plate on the street, trying to get the car owners to buy them! But not just any car plate – special ones with “emirates” or “china” written on it – very discrete ;)
Have you witnessed some cray cray stuff around town yourself? Have you experienced something “original”, “new”, “out of the ordinary” and want to share it? Let us know in the comments section ! Looking forward to hearing all about your “Exp’Anecdotes” and keep your eyes and mind opened !
