Super Simple No-Cook Momo Achar

By Hanna

momo achar

For those of you who remember my last momo achar recipe it had more of a classic taste but quite a few ingredients. However, I am lazy and like to take short cuts. So here is the easiest achar ever, you don’t even need to ‘cook’ it. Just a couple of the minutes in the microwave and voila! Cheat yourself Nepali!

The recipe below is for double the amount in the photo, so just keep multiplying for more yummy achar.

Ingredients:

  • 5 Medium tomatoes
  • Crushed chillies
  • A large handful of fresh coriander
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • (optional) dash of lemon juice

Method:

Put the tomatoes in a bowl, sprinkle with crushed chillies and cover with cling film. Put them in the microwave for a couple of minutes until they start getting soggy. Take them out and just stir them around, cover with the cling film and place in the microwave until cooked. If you have a blender, pour the tomatoes in with the handful of coriander and seasonings. Once blended the achar will look a bit more like the ones you get at a restaurant. However, I am a poor student and I don’t own a blender. In that case just chop up the coriander and chuck the coriander and seasonings in the tomatoes. Make sure to mix the achar and then it is ready to serve!

I hope you enjoy! Spicy, sweet and tangy like a momo achar should be. It is great if you want to show off in front of your friends, they will be begging for the recipe.

Please let me know if you try the recipe, I would love to hear your experience.
