Suno Deko has a way of making the ordinary extraordinary. Multi-instrumentalist David Courtright, aka Suno Deko, experiments with simplistic pop elements to create a bright, aural landscape. His latest dreamy single, “Thrown Color”, weaves bounding synths, playful strings, the echo of distant sleigh bells and Courtight’s yearning vocals amongst twangy guitar with an indie rock flair. Artfully pushing the boundaries of twirling atmospheric sound, the track’s powerful, post-bridge ascension explodes as Courtright implores, “Take the color from behind your eyes/Throw your color back into the skies.”
Much like the song, the video is the physical manifestation of exploding color as Courtright covers himself and an empty white backdrop in dust. Once the canvas and his clothes form an artful rainbow, he rips through to reveal a wilderness wonderland in which he and his colored canvas are immersed for the rest of the video. Suno Deko’s Thrown Color EP, mastered by Foxes in Fiction’s Warren Hildebrand, is out now on Stratosfear and matches the track in sweeping, wistful anthems.
