Sunless Tanning

By Hollysbeautybox @hollysbeautybox
If you've seen my picture (look at my DP to your right) then you'll know I'm fairer than snow white. I'm so pale, I look like Casper the Friendly Ghost with teeth. LOL! I'm a huge advocate of using SPF to protect my skin from harmful rays and to minimise the risk of cancer, I avoid tanning cabs at all costs.
Sunless Tanning
So how do I get a bit of a glow?
When I was contacted by Ellisons (who I am collaborating with for this article) asked me to share my sunless tanning tips, I was all too happy to. It's something I feel really strongly about and I have a few tips I'm happy to share.
Obviously, the way to sunless tanning is by using fake tan, but there are a few tips I've picked up along the way.
1 - EXFOLIATE
No tan looks nice if you have patchy dry skin, so I like to do a routine of exfoliating my body twice per week and that way if I decide to spontaneously use fake tan then I'm ready to go.
2 - SHAVE IN ADVANCE
Whether you shave or wax or thread or tweeze - whichever method you do or don't use for hair removal - if you plan on tanning, make sure you do your hair removal routine a day in advance to avoid the tan gathering in the hair follicles.
3 - USE A GRADUAL TAN
If you're like me and have skin problems (psoriasis in my case)then a gradual buildable tan might be for you. These usually come in the form of a moisturiser which can be applied daily to achieve the look you like which is much gentler on the skin
4 - USE TAN WITH A GUIDE COLOUR
To avoid streaks or missed patches, use a tan that has a guide color - this way you'll be able to see any parts you've missed
5 - MOISTURISE
The day after tanning, make sure you moisturise - particularly at dry places like elbows and knees - it'll prolong your tan :)
So there's my tips for Sunless Tanning! I personally like the St Tropez gradual tanning range, but I also like drugstore versions (including the dove one!).
Let me know if you have any tips below! Thanks so much to Ellisons for collaborating with me on this post.
