Happy New Year and happy Sunday! If you are in the East or South, I hope you are having no problems after the snowstorm. If you are in the Midwest, I hope you are staying warm in this arctic temperatures. If you are in the Northwest, I hope you are staying safe from the ice. And well, the Southwest? Just on keeping on.
It has been a few weeks since I have checked in on a Sunday thanks to the holidays. I don’t know about you but our holidays were wonderful – quiet, peaceful and full of togetherness with minimal bickering. That last week before Christmas, Jim was in Germany while the kids finished up school. The kids had their holiday band concerts. Connor found out he received a scholarship from Iowa State and was invited to apply for another one through the School of Engineering. We saw Rogue One as a family on Christmas Day. Mostly, we had a few days of work and more days of nonwork that were exactly what we needed. In fact, I could use a few more of them. After the week Jim had, I know he could as well.
Everyone went back to work and school on Tuesday, and we are back into our regular schedule. Holly is back into her dance classes. Connor has forensics practice in earnest now that the season is a few short weeks away. He also has added jazz band practice two days a week before school. It is year-end for both Jim and me. His was a little more stressful with a not-so-successful annual inventory count. Mine started more slowly but will heat up as the month progresses.
The marathon is one week away. We will be heading down to Phoenix on Friday morning. The plan is we will do some sightseeing Friday and Saturday with the marathon on Sunday. We will be flying back home early Monday morning after that. I know we are all excited for a long weekend and a chance to get away from the cold for a few days.
