Sunday Reflections – 3 April 2016 – Tired but Content

Happy Sunday! It’s been a rather lazy day around here, as Holly and I recover from the last two days. The weather lately has been just plain odd. Yesterday had moments of sun and lots of clouds all while snowing. Today was sunny and about thirty degrees warmer but still windy. The sun has since disappeared behind clouds and the temperature is supposed to drop a good forty degrees tonight. I guess winter has not yet released its clutches on this part of the world.

The dance competition was a huge success. The girls did an outstanding job on all of their dances – all thirty of them – and there are a lot of new trophies and plaques to display in the studio. Of even greater excitement is the fact that one of the team’s dances won the Grand Champion award for the weekend, meaning it was the highest scoring performance of the entire event. This is the second year in a row the team has won this award. There were a lot of excited faces upon that announcement! Next week is the third competition of the year, and this will involve travel, a hotel, and not getting home until late Sunday evening. Onward and upward!

Connor had his first track meet of the season and broke a personal record for his 800 meter time and his mile time. Some of Jim’s and my competitive nature finally might be coming to the fore for him because he was not quite happy with that and has plans to improve in this week’s meet. He also received his ACT scores. Again, he had a great score but does not deem it good enough. He is already making plans to retake it to try to improve his score. Who is this boy and where was he a few years ago?

On Friday, Jim had his last day of work at the company that brought us to Wisconsin four years ago. I know it was bittersweet for him as he said good-bye to his employees, colleagues, and friends. He also left with several guarantees that this company would hire him back in a heartbeat should things turn south on this new adventure of his. Hopefully, it will not come to that, but I know hearing that made  him feel much better about his future. Monday will be his first day at his new job. Based on how he is acting, his nerves are getting the better of him, but I know he will be fine. I am sure I will hear all about it tomorrow evening.

I kept to my regular schedule this week with What Are You Reading?, Fabulous Friday, and What’s for Dinner. I also posted reviews for Absolutely, Positively and The First Rule of Swimming. Since it was the end of March, I also shared some of My Favorite Things – March Edition. I finally got back into audiobooks, which was nice. They do help me concentrate on more mundane tasks at work and prevent me from dwelling on how much I hate to exercise.

As for the week, it is the first week of the month which means month-end close. I both love and dread this week every month because it is so hectic during the day with long, long hours at the office and yet strangely fulfilling as we push out each report. It is definitely not for everyone, but I do love it.

I hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday and has an even better work week. I won’t be posting anything next week because I will not be home, so I will see you back here in two weeks. Until then, take care and be good!
