Sunday Reflections – 20 August 2017

Happy Sunday!

As you can imagine, it has been a quiet week here. Holly still had dance classes to keep her occupied in the evenings, plus she had a three-day ballet boot camp that kept her busy during the latter half of the week. Jim and I are still adjusting to the quiet and only having to prepare a meal for three of us (two if she is not home), but we are getting there.

We have not heard much from Connor, but we expected that. After getting settled into his dorm room Monday, he had a meet-and-greet for the marching band Monday evening, a practice and tryouts for marching band on Tuesday and 12-hour practices for marching band every day since Wednesday. I have had a few text messages throughout the week, but I know he is exhausted. Between getting accustomed to life on campus and the practices, he hasn’t had much time to do anything but eat and sleep. We hope to talk to him tonight, as he starts class tomorrow.

Today should be fun in that Holly’s new studio brought in a professional photographer from LA for the team members (it helps to have a co-owner of the studio who was in the industry for a decade). This gentleman specializes in dancers, so it should be a lot of fun. Later tonight, the team directors are hosting a pig roast for the team as a team-building exercise and to officially kick off the dance season. It should be a lot of fun to see the girls and the parents outside of a dance environment, and I know the food will be excellent.

It looks like we are going to miss seeing the eclipse tomorrow, about which I am so bummed. The weather forecast sucks with heavy clouds and rain predicted for Monday. Boo.

Here are past posts from the few last weeks in case you missed them the first time:

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday and a relaxing weekend as we round the corner towards autumn and school. Have a great week, and I’ll see you back here next Sunday!
