Alchemy – Sun Hotel
Talks – Sun Hotel
As the final days of September dwindle, the disappearing leaves and chilly autumn air cruelly remind us that many months of gloom, rain, sleet, and snow are around the corner. Yet, as I sit here with the sweet sounds of Sun Hotel (@sunhotel) flooding through my headphones, all I can envision is a world of warm seaside walks and long top-down car rides.
Hailing from the great southern city of New Orleans, the young men of Sun Hotel produce music with an other-worldly quality that transports you to a nostalgic place. Characterized by a sound and attitude they describe as post-gospel with a punk ethic, the indie four-piece delivers tracks that feature jangling guitar chords and clashing percussion along with gentle echoes and vulnerable lyrics. Having self-released two EPs already, this band has mastered their creative message and will likely convey this confidence with their new release, Gifts. Set to drop via Chinquapin Records on October 11th, I cannot wait to unwrap and enjoy.
