Sharing the three skincare products I used on Sunday for a shine-free mattifying finish that stood up to the summer melt!
When the temperature hits triple digits, the last thing I want to worry about is how to fix my shiny face glistening with a mixture of filmy sweat and swimming-off-the-face makeup. And yet, it was an inevitability that I'd never been able to escape in the past, until recently. Determined to finally put an end to the endless cycle of summer clown face, I teamed up with Botanics to find a mattifying weekend skincare solution for my summer woes.
I spent Sunday morning trying out three Botanics Shine Away products to help prep my skin for an all-day mattifying finish. I started with the Botanics Shine Away Mattifying Cleansing Mousse. It dissolves excess oil and thoroughly cleanses to instantly mattify, refresh and rebalance skin. Willowbark, the active plant extract in the Shine Away range, is a natural source of salicylic acid, which helps refine skin texture and target imperfections. Unlike other cleansers, this one didn't leave my skin feeling super tight or excessively dry. My skin definitely felt and looked clean.
For an extra punch, I followed with the Botanics Shine Away Ionic Clay Mask, which contains rich minerals and a negative electrical charge that acts like a magnet, helping to draw deep-rooted impurities out of the skin without drying. It dries quickly after application, so I left it on for just ten minutes and used that time to "meditate" (M says I'm just napping). Make sure to shake the tube before opening to avoid a liquidity mess!
After cleaning off the mask, I hydrated with Botanics Mattifying Day Cream a light and hydrating moisturizer that doesn't leave my skin looking oily or filmy and perfectly preps my skin for makeup. A little bit of concealer, a high-SPF sunscreen, and some bright lips, and I'm ready for a "don't sweat it" summer day!
