The filmmaker took to Twitter to share an image of a green-haired Leto posing with a camera after fans pointed out that the actor was missing from his recent cast picture.

The striking still is a tip of the hat to the cover image from Alan Moore's 1988 one-shot comic The Killing Joke, which featured art from Brian Bolland and colours by John Higgins.The Killing Joke depicted the origins of the iconic supervillain, with his stand-up comedy career going south after he falls in with the criminal underworld.
Suicide Squad will star Will Smith, Viola Davis, Jay Hernandez, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jai Courtney, Karen Fukuhara and Cara Delevingne.
It centres around a group of DC Comics villains - among them Deadshot, Harley Quinn, the Joker and Captain Boomerang - who are dispatched on a government-sanctioned mission of redemption.
Suicide Squad will open in cinemas in August 2016.
