Ok, I have the Clarisonic. I have the $30 and $100 face scrubs. And after a little discussion with my coworker yesterday–we have determined that sugar and a washcloth might be just as effective.
Calm down. Think about it for a minute. Remember when you used to play make-believe? Cosmetic companies play on our ability to pretend. Well, they profit from the talent our brain has to function with respect to unsupported conclusions. Just because a scrub has more ingredients, does that make it better? Just because a spinning brush head costs $130, that makes it work better than rubbing a washcloth in circles? I doubt it. And you should too.
Don’t get ripped off. Make as many of your own personal care products as possible. You control the ingredients and the price. Plus, you don’t have to go to the store 13 times a week. More people have acne, skin problems, and issues with oil over-production than even before. Yet we buy more products than ever before. The cause and effect are directly related to the wealth of products purporting to solve such problems.
Make your own Face Scrub:
1/2 fresh lemon
1/2 cup of granulated sugar
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 tablespoon of honey
Mix lemon juice and olive oil in a bowl. Stir in honey until the ingredients bind together into a thicker consistency. Add sugar.
Gently apply the scrub in a circular motion. Leave the scrub on for a little while in order for the lemon and sugar to perform their natural functions of tightening pores, moisturizing and exfoliating.
