To be honest, I’m growing a bit tired of folk, but Brooklyn band, Such Hounds, who describe themselves as thick folk, are anything but tiring. Their new track “Sold my Soul” is a refreshing take on Americana that includes a punk spirit, reminiscent of the garage rock you can find on cornerstone labels like Rough Trade. The song is a catchy, guitar driven number with just the right amount of jangle. If you’re a fan of The Cave Singers but also enjoy playing the electric air guitar, I’d highly recommend this band. Watch out for the September 30 release of their I Hate Summer EP, released by Brooklyn based label Sleepover Party.
