One of the products I always try to keep with me, especially in winter, is a lip balm. I’ve recently been using the Rose Petal Lip Balm from Subtle Energies and I am in love with it!

One of the reasons I wanted to try this particular product was because there has been a lot of hype around other rose based lip balms such as the By Terry Baume de Rose and the Dior Crème de Rose versions, which are quite costly so I wanted to see if there was a more affordable alternative that works well.

With the key ingredients of Rose Absolute, Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter to hydrate, nourish and help damaged lips. A real standout feature of this product is that it’s only made up by 5 ingredients – Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Avocado Oil, Vitamin E and Rose Otto Flower Oil. The formula is also free of Petrochemicals, Parabens, Synthetic Preservatives, Fragrance and Colours.
This really is a luxurious product as the formula is emollient and very easy to apply. A little does go a long way because the smooth formula applies so well which means a 15g pot like this will last you for quite a while! The lip balm also has a lovely, soft rose scent that’s non intrusive.
The Rose Petal Lip Balm soaks into the lips very well so that you’re able to feel it working instead of feeling it sitting on top of your lips, as some other lip balms do. Almost instantly, the lips feel soft and supple and really hydrated. I find that the hydration in this product is one of the best that I’ve tried. It lasts on the lips for hours and is the perfect product to apply before bed if you want to wake up with smooth, soft lips in the morning as well as under any lip products that may dry your lips out.
This lip balm does come in a pot and that is something not everyone prefers because of hygiene reasons. When I’m at home, I apply it with my fingers because I’m able to wash my hands prior to application but when I’m out and my lips need some hydration, I use a small lip brush to apply the product and then I rub my lips together to ensure the lip balm’s rubbed in well.
Overall, I think this is one of the best lip balms I’ve tried in terms of hydration. It keeps the lips hydrated and also protected from the elements like cold weather and wind, which in Winter, is something I find contributes significantly to drying out the lips. There’s no nasties and it is a natural formula so that is always an advantage!
