Back when Living Coral was announced as Pantone’s Color of the Year, I shared a post with as many shopping suggestions as I could find in this color at the time. To me, the shade seemed more spring/summer, so I held back creating outfits using it until the weather got warmer. Now that spring is here, it is time to showcase some outfits using this color so you can stylishly incorporate Living Coral into your wardrobe.
Styling Outfits Using Living Coral
Outfit #1
Living Coral is a lot of color and, unless you are hitting Denny’s at 5 pm for the early bird special, needs some neutrals to ground it. I love the idea of wearing colored jeans in the summer and often suggest to think of these outfits upside down– if you are putting color on the bottom instead of the top, wear some neutrals on top. Colored pants, in general, can be helpful pieces in your wardrobe to wear with navy and black tops you often find yourself stumped by how to wear.
I styled these Living Coral jeans from AG with a navy top from Gibson that I layered under a summer cardigan from Eileen Fisher. To the look, I added a printed scarf for a finish, metallic Frye slip-on sneakers and a bone colored bag from Vince Camuto.

Many were excited when Living Coral was announced as the color of the year for 2019 because it can be an attractive face color for a variety of skin tones. Plus, if it isn’t a preferred skin tone color, it’s a great pop color. This color offers something for everyone.
I love using olive as a neutral with colors, it’s fresh looking and not as stark as black can be. I styled this Living Coral sweater from Caslon with these olive cropped twill trousers. Finishing the look, I added these metallic sandals from Cole Haan, an olive nylon crossbody from Michael Kors, colorful bracelet and gold pendant, both from Madewell.

This asymmetrical blouse from Josie Natori is a fun way to add some excitement to basic summer look. I styled it with a pair of white cropped pants from Elie Tahari that a client of mine recently purchased and finished the look with navy using these wedge sandals from Louise et Cie, navy bag with colorful accents from Cole Haan and grey lucite stone necklace from Lafayette 148.

This dress from Akris Punto is colorful and playful while also being appropriate for work or even a daytime wedding. For coverage, and not to break up the line of the dress, I added a Michael Kors shrug cardigan in white. A side note about these cardigans: even those with the biggest of budgets can find these shrugs expensive for what they are. However, they are also incredibly versatile, which is why many clients buy them. That said, not everyone has the budget to plunk down nearly $700 for one, so I will tell you my secret. You can often find them on consignment for under $100 at The RealReal, which is where I get mine.
To finish this look, I added a pair of nude suede pumps from Marc Fisher and a white bag from Chloë.

If you are someone who has decided that Living Coral will not be a color you will put on your body, but you like the idea of it in small doses, go for shoes or a handbag. A little of this color can go a long way.
I styled these Living Coral slides from Vince Camuto with a grey jumpsuit from Banana Republic, layered a J. Crew denim jacket over it and finished the look with a light gray casual handbag from Urban Originals and layered necklace from Chico’s.
