Street Style Spotted in Vignola + a Linkup

Before I go on with this awesome real mom’s street style, I just want to say that I hope you are enjoying fall festivals, apple picking, long walks, kicking leaves, tickle sessions with the people you love, cooking up some yummy fall recipes, chats with friends and everything else that makes the autumn so incredible. If there is one thing that Italy has taught me, it is to appreciate where you are right now.

No matter where you live there are new places to discover and adventures to be had. I don’t know why it took moving to Italy for me to realize that Ontario was filled with amazing sites and experiences….but it did!

If there is one habit that I’ve gotten into while living in Italy it is the day trip. Almost every single weekend my husband and I pack up our son (now 2 and a half – crazy!) and we head to a different local festival, event, town, museum or nature trail. I realize now that you don’t need a lot of money to do this type of “stay-cationing” as we usually eat a pizza or local street food, or pack a lunch. You just need a few hours of spare time and the desire to discover.

It was during one of these weekend escapes that we accidentally ended up in the city of Vignola, where I met this put together mom.

Real Mom Street Style in Vignola

Meet Marina! I met her last weekend in the beautiful city of Vigonla which is only a 15 – 20 minute drive away from Modena’s centre and it is home to a stunning Medeival Fortress that has many events throughout the year.

We were actually supposed to go somewhere else on this particular Sunday, but ended up in Vignola by chance, I’ve been there a few times and have blogged about it before here and here.

The city centre has this super cute merry go round, which we cannot seem to pass without letting our son have a turn (or 10!). If you remember from this post, merry go rounds are totally a thing in Italy, and apparently also THE PLACE TO BE if you want to meet other stylish moms.

What She Wore

I love Marina’s coat. The fabric is incredibly high quality and the shape of the shoulders is the new “U” silouhette that I’ve blogged about before here. Kind of slouchy and very modern and flattering, it instantly takes an otherwise simple outfit into chic territory.

She’s wearing leather biker boots, not that different from the military boot trend that Italian women seem to love (I’ve written about the trend here and how it is perfect for Fall dressing).

She pulls the whole outfit together with accents that are cool but also natural, like a big men’s style watch, rolling her coat sleeves to reveal a bit of leopard and Rayban mirror sunglasses.

Oh and did I mention her feisty daughter also had great style. I really do think that Italians inherit their style genes (I’ve written about that hypothesis here).

#reasonstodress – Fab Five

This week I wanted to focus on the many mature fashion bloggers that I’ve enjoyed reading and follow along with. One of the reasons doing real mom street style meant so much to me was because I noticed that no one else was including moms in their street style pictures! Much in the same way I think the 45+ crowd is also left out of the street style ring. Well, LET ME TELL YOU, in Italy they are a stylish bunch (you may remember this mom and her stylish daughter) and not just in Italy either, check out this group of mature fashion bloggers.
