GUEST POST
I wrote my first novel in high school.  And, amazingly, I did it pretty much longhand.  I think I filled several spiral notebooks.  It was entitled In a World Once Written, and I was very, very proud of it.  In truth, it was really more of a learning experience.   As I look back at that experience, I remember how arrogant I was as a writer.     I remember thinking: Why bother reading other people’s works?  I’m a writer.  I just need to write.  And I already have my style.  That’s not going to change.   Yeah, right!   As I think back to the young man saying that, I want to smack some sense into him.   I had so much to learn and I had barely discovered my own voice at that point.   I wish I would have read more during those years and taken a more teachable approach to my own writing.  As I’ve told many people over the years, the best way to become a better writer is to be a better reader.     My younger daughter is an amazing writer.  She just finished a story that is one hundred pages single spaced.  And she’s only in Middle School!  I constantly tell her not to make the same mistake that I did with my writing when I was young.    Read, read, read!  And be teachable!

But he must first deal with the crazed gunman roaming the streets as well as another growing threat: Klutch, a violent army vet suffering PTSD, has recruited a band of followers who believe the storm is a weaponized weather experiment gone awry. Klutch plans on stopping anyone from leaving the island, and one of his followers is Eddie’s own teenage son.
