"Stop.Drop.Roll is a coming together of the rousing bass heavy music scene and one of London’s most pioneering clubs. Its aim is simple, to present the best in groundbreaking music from all manner of artists, with one common denominator. Bass.
After the S.D.R. launch that saw Ms Dynamite, Mosca and Jam City rock The Nest to its foundations, we’ll be welcoming dubstep pioneer, Chefal a.k.a. DJ Chef, to headline the March installment. Hailing from dubstep’s birth town of Croydon, with over 15 years in the mix and a prime slot on the biggest urban music radio station, Rinse FM, Chef'll be keeping it deep and dark on the night, with fresh dub selections and grime-infused beats.
We’re also welcoming South London trio, Dark Sky, to The Nest with their mutant strain of 4x4 house, garage and post-dubstep. Quickly building their profile with a recent Fact mix and a single release penciled in for Brackles and Shortstuff’s Blunted Robots label, the Dark Sky boys are going from strength to strength.
Next on the bill is a frontrunner within 2010’s “future bass” movement. After appearing on most of our radars after producing the stand out track ‘Drums in the Deep’ on the fabric Elevator Music compilation, Doc Daneeka has quickly become a respected artist of intelligent UK Funky. Last year’s ‘Hold On’ EP release marked Doc Daneeka out as one to watch with its crackling vinyl interference and twisted vocal sample. Erring on the warped and distorted side of funky, house and garage, it’s sure to be an all eyes on the decks/all feet to the dance floor scenario.
Come join us as genre will be out the window and we will welcome in the varied sounds of UK club culture in one of London’s hottest new spots."
