Sometimes the information that isn't known is the most important.
That is certainly the case in terms of Ike Taylor's sub par 2013 campaign that not only ended with the usually dependable cornerback getting beaten, but also by him losing his usual responsibility of shadowing the opponent's best receiver.
As reported by Dale Lolley, reporter of the Washington Observer-Reporter, that both Dick LeBeau and Ike Taylor both admitted that the veteran was playing injured last season.
The injury wasn't released for obvious reasons, but does give a glimpse as to why Taylor had such a bad season at times.
As Lolley writes via Twitter, expecting a bounce back year for Taylor isn't out of the realm of possibility. The Steelers certainly could use a solid year from their most experienced cornerback, as the cornerback position certainly lacks in quality depth.
Some might view the announcement of an injury as an excuse, but it certainly does answer a lot of questions regarding Taylor's play last season. Now with a clean bill of health, Taylor and the Steelers look forward to the rebound in 2014.
