Steelers and Harrison at an Impasse

By Kipper @pghsportsforum
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers and James Harrison have reached an impasse in the Steelers attempt to redo his contract at a lower rate of pay as Harrison has said he will not take a paycut. It really is in the Steelers best interest to part ways with the former NFL Defensive Player of the Year, who in recent seasons has has issues with his neck, back and his knees. Players his age who have had issues with these areas of the body generally don't rebound to have years that justify his salary and cap number and his decline in performance the last two seasons falls in line with that thinking.
The Steelers would be best served to release Harrison in June and take that money to lock up Keenan Lewis on a multi year deal and address other needs. The Steelers recently went back over the cap limit when they brought back CB Willie Gay following his release from Arizona.
