Staying Ahead And Out Of Debt!
I would say that the best way to stay ahead is to never get behind! That may sound pretty obvious and silly to many, but it is a simple truth! I just finished listening to a very interesting audio book by Dave Ramsey called “The Total Money Makeover” in which he counsels about how to get out of debt, and then how to accumulate wealth with an average income!

In the United States, “the American Way” has been pretty much paved with the debt, borrowing in order to have and living “the American Dream” without have the means to do so, by going more deeply in debt.  There is a verse in the Bible that I particularly like which goes, “Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.”  Romans 13:8

I have tried to follow this principle through out my life and am thankful that I have not fallen into debt, except for one particular time with a credit card, and it quickly taught me that I never ever wanted to do that again!  From that time on, I have always paid in full my bills with any card, and have not bought anything unless I knew that I would have enough at the end of the month to pay for it.

I can’t say that I have gained any wealth, but I have lived well, and have not fallen into debt.  “The Total Money Makeover” by Ramsey is pretty thorough in sharing  tips on how to, not only get out of debt, but to even gain wealth and how to better prepare for retirement without holding on to the false hope that the federal government will come to your rescue through Social Security!

If you are fighting with debt and have fallen behind, I highly recommend that you check out this book by Dave, it could very well change your life!  You can find his site at www.daveramsey.com.  It is amazing just how well you can live by staying within your means!

How are you doing, are you staying ahead?
