Stay in Shape While Staying Within Budget: 5 Apps to Download Before Your Next Business Trip

By Healthytravelblog @healthytravel1

Have you ever been on a business trip, in need of a good workout but don’t know how to find the time to work out? Or, perhaps you have a free evening but just don’t know where to go or what to do? Don’t worry, my friends. We’re here to help.

While traveling, expenses add up between your hotel stay, meals, transportation (Nova Car Hire has cheap rates – check them out), and so on, so there’s not a lot left over to pay for a temporary gym pass or, worse, an overpriced hotel room just to get a gym. Fortunately, there are plenty of other options. And today’s smart phones are a great place to start. Here are five apps that will help you stay in shape during your next business trip:

Mylil’ Coach
$1.99
Researchers have found that one of the easiest ways to gradually change behaviors is to use gentle reminders. When you’re traveling, you can use these reminders to help you lead a healthy lifestyle, even when you’re away from home and your normal routine. This app will help train you to drink water throughout the day, get the right amount of exercise, and eat well no matter where you are. And, it has a built-in pedometer that you can use to track how far you walk each day.

Pro tip: If you don’t have a gym near you, try to walk around the city (or your hotel in the case of lousy weather) for at least 20 to 30 minutes each day. The app’s pedometer will keep track of your progress.

Shape Travelista
$1.99
This app is a must-have for your next business trip because it gives you strength workouts that utilize items you’d actually have in your hotel room like a bed, luggage, and water bottles. So, you can do an entire workout without leaving your room. The routines are designed to work your entire body and feature instructions, images, videos, and even audio coaching.

Pro tip: Enter your reps and sets to keep track of the progress you’ve made. Then, refer back to it at any point to keep you motivated.

Trailhead
Free
If you’re an outdoor enthusiast and have a little extra time on your business trip, check out Trailhead by North Face. You can browse through more than 300,000 hiking trails and biking routes to find an adventure near you. Then, the app tracks your distance, route, elevation, and speed so you can save your stats for later and even share it on Facebook or Twitter.

Gain Fitness
Free
Whether you’re on the go, or just don’t have the budget for a personal trainer, Gain Fitness uses the expertise of real personal trainers to create a custom workout for you. The app features more than 700 individual exercises so you can create thousands of routines that meet your needs. And, you can specify whether you have access to a gym or want a full at-home workout.

RunKeeper
Free
One of the best exercises around is plain old running because it’s free and you can do it virtually anywhere. And, it’s a great way to explore a new city. Use RunKeeper to track how far you’ve walked or run, your pace, speed, and the number of calories you’ve burned. The app uses GPS to track your route so you can save it and access it if you want to run the same path in the future.

Pro tip: Stay motivated by sharing your goals and progress on Facebook or Twitter.

Next time you’re on a business trip, consider downloading one or more of these apps to keep you feeling great the entire time.
