Last Saturday (where'd the week go?!?! time is flying!), I was invited to experience the newly launched #StayHumanProject at the Kimpton Lorien Hotel & Spa. At first when I heard about this new project I was intrigued. I was still not sure what to expect on my experience. Boy, O, boy, it was right up my alley. Doodling, polaroids, dessert as nightcap, and more. But I am getting ahead of myself. Let me start from the beginning.

We are not summer people. We like spring, and we like fall but is a hard pass on smoldering heat and humidity. Hence, staycations! They are an ideal way for us to enjoy summer. That was one of the reasons why I was excited them the good people at Kimpton first mentioned this collaboration back in June. So let's dive into what this experience is about - Kimpton Lorien Hotel & Spa in Old Town Alexandria has launched this new social experiment called Suite Dreams (from June 1 – August 31), by transforming one of their premier guest rooms into an immersive experience that explores human connection through dream and sleep-related activities.

For our 24 hours we started first with a warm welcome soon followed by a luxurious and extremely relaxing couple's massage at their Spa. You can choose between facials, body treatments, and massages. They use the premier Elemis products line. This is the only hotel spa in Alexandria area hosting five treatment rooms. I would suggest making an appointment right when you book a room as they sure get busy.

After the massage we head directly to the lobby to catch the last end of the the evening Wine Hour (hosted from 5-6pm) in lobby living room. Then we head back to the room and spent the remaining time enjoying the room amenities and all the fun activities. My favorite has to be doodling and coloring. You can leave notes and messages for the next occupant of the room. How cool is that?

Once the sun set we head out and enjoyed the charm of Old Town Alexandria. It has so much to offer. Just walking around in between streets and alleys makes you feel you are in from European town away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life. The next morning I got some of my reading in at the patio attached to the room (check in Insta-Stories), followed by a short morning walk. Last but not the least we ended our stay with the grand and delicious brunch at Brabo (which I featured last week in detail here). Brabo Brasserie, is fine dining featuring French and European-inspired cuisine and craft cocktails and Brabo Tasting Room, is a sociable, casual café serving lighter artisanal fare, Basically all your needs are covered.

They've also partnered with a number of local independent business on some of the interactive elements in the room including a Dream Journal Guestbook with materials provided by Penny Post, sweet treats from Executive Chef Sebastien Rondier at Brabo Brasserie, Power Down activity list with a curated selection of reading material provided by Old Town Books and luxe oils and sprays by Nourish & Refine and a wake-up call service with coffee from Swing’s Coffee Roasters.

The room is part of Kimpton’s larger Stay Human Project, which is all about heartfelt human connections and finding commonalities between travelers. Catch the glimpsed of my stay LIVE in the Insta-Stories (under the caption Lorien Hotel) or in the YouTube video below. I tried my best to capture the spirit of the room and the experience in this post. If you are in the DMV area you must make a reservation and check this unique project out.
