I always love a good breakfast spot, my search for them never ends. I headed along to Starfish Caf for its launch of Star Breakfast Bar excited to try out their breakfast and coffee.
Upon visiting the café for the first time for its breakfast launch, I was surprised by the store layout and cute decor. It instantly struck me as a good place for a catch-up. Being on Beaufort Street in Mount Lawley is also handy, as I regularly travel for a breakfast spot.
The sweets compartment caught my eye just after stepping through the door - a bright and beautiful looking range of treats. I didn't try any however, my tummy can't take sweets in the morning (sadly). However my friend and I agreed to try at least one after breakfast... This didn't happen as we were so full of breakfast samples!
We were served with various samples of the breakfast menu. First being this adorable Bircher Muesli with rolled oats, Greek yoghurt, grated apple and a range of fresh fruits. The fruits balanced out the sourness from the yoghurt, it was a fresh start.
Followed were fresh baguettes - I had smoked salmon, cream cheese and lettuce in mine and my friend tried the shaved leg ham, grated cheese, roast capsicum with aioli. It was a yes from us both! Can't go wrong with a fresh baguette to start the morning, along with our cappuccinos. Star Breakfast Bar serves specialty coffee by Veneziano Coffee Roasters. I'm not a big coffee drinker so I couldn't critique it thoroughly, however I can't complain having something hot to drink on a cold morning. I'm a sucker for hashbrowns, so when they came out I was more excited than I should have been (not gonna lie).
However the highlight of it all was the Apple Jaffle with an apple and raisin compote. It was like an apple pie in a toastie - the perfect comfort snack on a cold day, plus it wasn't overly sweet!
Although my go-to breakfast/brunch dish is a classic eggs benedict, Starfish Caf/Star Breakfast Bar is a cute and convenient, local spot for a quick breakfast with a pleasant atmosphere.
