St. Vincent Reveals ‘prince Johnny’ [stream]

Annie Clark keeps the stream of previews coming, giving us another taste from St. Vincent’s upcoming, self-titled release. The newest outting, “Prince Johnny”, saunters in on a sleazy drum machine and an ethereal choral background, while our hero criticizes the song’s main character. Bass, distant solos and one-off guitar crunches fill the gaps and provide sonic accompaniment to the verbal blows.

Between “Prince Johnny” and the two previous releases, “Digital Witness” and “Birth in Reverse”, we can expect St. Vincent to be rife with dystopian commentary, a healthy dose of freaky guitar spasms and a smattering of the brass workings Clark has recently picked up. St. Vincent is set for release on February 24th in the U.K. and February 25th in the U.S.
